Wrongful Death
In the event of an untimely death of a person, either due to another's misconduct or negligence, a member of the deceased's immediate family may be entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent party, whether an individual or a corporation. By filing the lawsuit, the immediate family or the estate of the deceased may be entitled to recover economic damages such as funeral and burial expenses, lost earnings, lost accumulations of income, medical expenses incurred prior to death, loss of medical benefits, loss of support and services, together with other non-economic damages, such as mental anguish, love, comfort, affection and pain and suffering.
